Online Marketing must do's for beginners

I have been very busy lately working on exciting projects. Luckily, this website and the fact that I am listed in Joomla Resource directory as an SEO Specialist has helped me tremendously. So, if you are thinking about getting a website - just do it now. The earlier the better. Because it takes time, it really does. For example, my wife's blog about outfits and trendy clothing started roughly an ear ago and she has been patient and serious to post 3 times a week and do social bookmarking and comments. And now she has over 5000 visitors a month!

So, to the point:

You want to start in online marketing, you want to have a website, you want to make money online and work from any place in the world?

Your business needs better online presence and you want to learn more about increasing traffic and conversion?

These are in my opinion the best steps you as a beginner can take:

1. Sign up for the 30 day challenge - awesome program by Ed Dale, Australian online guru. They really make it very easy to learn the steps to effective marketing online.

2. Buy the stuff they recommend - Market Samurai and Traffic Bug. These applications are extremely cheap for what they can do.They have 40 Day free trials which is awesome.

3. Go through the whole course which is completely free. After each day of the course, reflect on the items taught and try to apply them to your current online business model. If you don't have one, even better - start clean.

4. Build a website using a free open source platform such as Joomla and Wordpress.

5. Start off with great content and publish news and tips about your industry.

6. Use Traffic Bug to promote your content

7. Promote your site and service using different approaches. This favorite article in Seomoz gives great ideas.

As the 30 day challenge team says: There is no charge for awesomeness!

Social Media in Plain English

I can't believe that in just two weeks of vacation so much has happened in Online Marketing and SEO. The Caffeine Update , SES San Jose and the long awaited Search Engine Factor Reviews for 2009  are just a small part of what has happened during the "lazy" days of August.

Feeling quite embarrassed by not covering those earlier I would like to say in my defense that everybody needs a break / you too / from sitting all day in front of the PC and browsing through ideas to improve your online presence. If you already had your vacation or you are determined not to take a rest until you know it all, here is a great resource a friend of mine mentioned to me.

Videos - we know how important they are for conversion and customer satisfaction. We have seen it all - from the worst to the best. But they all share one thing in common - action. Going out and doing it. Still, a large chunk of businesses would not go for it for different reasons / funny accent is mine and it's a good one :) /

This is where Commoncraft can help. Their concept of selling videos to feature on your website eliminates the hassle of shooting your own. Plus their smart approach will definetely catch the eye of your audience. Latest tests show that people are tired of videos with real people and looking for fresh alternatives. Commoncraft is one. I enjoyed watching their Social Media videos and I am positive those will help educating your prospects if you feature them on your website. Check my favorite one about blogs.
